Tonight is the first episode of a new three part series here at Junk Banter titled: “Who Exactly is Betty Crocker, And Why Is My Ass So Big?”
When I first saw the new Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards line, including this Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar that we’ll be reviewing tonight, my first thought was “Man, she is everywhere.” But that got me thinking… who exactly is she? I set out to find more about this mystery woman who was 25% responsible for my obese childhood. I knew it wouldn’t be easy… but I had a plan.
The bombshell – Betty Crocker isn’t a real person. Welp, that’s it for Episode 1! We’ll delve more into who exactly Betty Crocker is or isn’t when we review the second product in the Sweet Rewards lineup. But tonight, we’ll begin with the most classic flavor in the lineup: Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar.
The new Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar comes in a box with 5 individually wrapped bars, advertised as chocolate chip cookie bars with chocolate flavored coating. Each bar is 190 calories with 9g of fat, 26g of carbs, 14g of sugar and a single gram of protein. These make an excellent substitute for your standard protein bar if you eat twenty of them in one sitting.
After one bite of Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar, I wish Betty Crocker were in fact a real person so I could give her a wet kiss on the mouth. I don’t know how she did it, what with her not being existent and all, but she somehow captured the taste of raw chocolate chip cookie dough in a way that doesn’t make you feel disgusting at all. The chew is soft with some layered textures from the large chocolate chips and firm chocolate coating on the bottom. The textures are enjoyable and the bar holds together well as you work through it.
Flavor-wise, Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar has all the majors element that a chocolate chip cookie batter has – bursts of saltiness, underlying butteriness, and lots of chocolatey goodness in each bite. The only thing missing here is sugary grit and hyper-sweetness, which in this case is an excellent thing. Nothing about this bar is too sweet; it’s simply on point. I silently observed that the chocolate used in this bar tastes like semi-sweet chocolate morsels, and then confirmed on the label that’s exactly what’s used here (nailed it). The balance is exceptional.
Bottom Line: Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar is true to its description in every way possible. I don’t have a single complaint here – it just won’t reinvent any wheels because its flavor is a familiar one. Its incredible value derives from being the laziest way to eat a delicious homemade chocolate chip cookie. And it’s only 190 calories, so you can eat as many as you want. Heat this bar up for 10-15 seconds and thank me in the comments below.

let’s see if this shows up.
would like to give this a go as all the cookie dough protein bars I eat are not top notch in my opinion.
I can’t be the only person who still LOVES the Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, can I?
Not horrible but not nearly my first choice for Quest bars. Cookie and cream far superior.
