REVIEW: Baskin Robbins Trick OREO Treat Dark Ice Cream

by Junk Male · October 17, 2016

The Baskin Robbins Flavor of the Month for October 2016 is inspired by Halloween and little fat kids everywhere.

Baskin Robbins Trick OREO Treat Dark Ice Cream features chocolate ice cream, Halloween Oreos, Butterfinger and Baby Ruth candy bar pieces, and a dark fudge ribbon. It’s gotta be a treat, right?

Well it was a trick in a more literal sense for me. When I went to my Baskin Robbins on the first of the month (a really sad ritual at this point), they didn’t have Baskin Robbins Trick OREO Treat Dark Ice Cream. What they did have was the Trick OREO Treat ice cream of years past: the one with vanilla ice cream.

I just assumed the vanilla one was the Flavor of the Month. I was pretty disappointed as I ate it in my car alone because mine didn’t have much Butterfinger or Baby Ruth candy bar pieces, and they were so small that it didn’t make a major impact. It was basically just cookies & creme.

Later that day, Baskin Robbins tweets that the Flavor of the Month is actually the Trick OREO Treat Dark, something you would only know if you’re a special kind of fatass that follows Baskin Robbins on Twitter like me.

Son of a bitch…

24 Hours later I found myself back in a Baskin Robbins, successfully locating Baskin Robbins Trick OREO Treat Dark Ice Cream. I shared my thoughts on Instagram:

Of the two, Trick OREO Treat Dark Ice Cream is the way to go. However, the candy mix-ins are inconsistent and not executed all that well. The Butterfinger adds a little peanut buttery crunch, but the Baby Ruth pieces are frozen solid and will require a follow-up trip to the dentist. The best part was the dark fudge ribbon, and Baskin Robbin’s chocolate ice cream performs well enough to make up for some of the flaws.

In summary, Baskin Robbins Trick OREO Treat Dark ice cream is a trick and a treat at the same time.
