If this were an episode of Friends, it would be called: “The One with the Frosting & Jelly Sandwich.”
For you see, I bought this new Pillsbury JIF Peanut Butter frosting but I forgot to buy something to frost. Save me the lecture about how easy it is to bake something. And sure, I could go to the store and buy some plain donuts or something. Or… I could use this loaf of white bread that I have before it goes stale.
How many legitimate opportunities does one get to use frosting on a sandwich without being judged?
Oh… you’re judging. Well how bout you consider this one? Shut up. Even the folks at Pillbusy are lazy savages. Take a look at their only serving suggestion of “Sweet & Salty Dessert Canopies.”
They’re just Ritz crackers with frosting and whatever other crap they had lying around…
I don’t even have crackers, folks. Gotta work with what you got.
The texture of Pillsbury JIF Peanut Butter Frosting will be immediately familiar to anyone who has tried JIF Whips spread. It’s super fluffy and it makes that really weird, unpleasant “squish” sound as you run your fingers through it, which I am currently doing and I can’t stop doing.
As for the taste? Tastes like peanut butter for the most part. The only key difference is a slight reduction in saltiness for a slightly more substantial increase in sweetness. There’s really no other note here; it’s not like vanilla or buttercream frosting with peanut butter flavoring. This shit is jam-packed with roasted peanut flavor. Not bad at all…
So, let’s see how it works on some white bread.
Welp, I don’t know what I was expecting. It tastes like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I kind of miss the extra saltiness, and it all stuck to the roof of my mouth. At the same time, it proves that this is a pretty damn genuine peanut butter flavor or even substitute. I’m sure this would frost fantastically on some peanut butter cupcakes…
Or doughnuts…
Probably something that wasn’t white bread?
Anyway, there’s a Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting as well.
This time I didn’t even bother with the bread. I heard bread makes you fat.
Yum! Pillsbury JIF Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting takes the same formula and adds a nice chocolate twist. The chocolate helps it categorize more comfortably as a frosting instead of just a sweet peanut butter like the original. The balance is split pretty evenly between cocoa and peanut butter, so this would work wonderfully for a Reese’s cupcake, a Reese’s doughnut, or a Reese’s frosting & jelly sandwich.
Tomorrow I will eat salad.
