With the exception of all the people that hate New York City, everybody loves New York City.
When I think of the bright lights, the fascinating skyscrapers, and all the beautifully dressed women who won’t even look at me, I long for a trip to the Big Apple. You can ride the ferry and climb the Statue of Liberty – she’s smaller than she looks! Or you can spend the entire day people watching in Central Park – some people are such freakshows! Marquee entertainment at Radio City Music Hall is a MUST, and sports fans can watch the Knicks lose over 60% of their games at wonderful Madison Square Garden.
Personally, my favorite pasttime is losing myself in the city by eating a slice of New York cheesecake in an overpriced hotel room 20 blocks away from all the action. I also like the Museum of Sex because they taught me what it was.
Hershey’s is celebrating national obesity with a new line of “Flavor of” candies, and today we’ll be reviewing the “Flavor of New York”: Hershey’s Cherry Cheesecake. (The other bars in the lineup are “Flavor of Georgia” Honey Roasted Reese’s, “Flavor of California” Strawberry Kit Kats, and “Flavor of Texas” BBQ Payday.)
There’s much to be excited about today. If you’ve never had a true New York cheesecake, just know that it’s a dense motherfucker heavy on the cream cheese. It’s cake-like around the edges but velvetty smooth towards the center. You literally feel yourself getting fatter when you eat a slice, and you will actually say to yourself: “I’m totally okay with what’s happening right now.” It’s really that amazing.
Of course, a plain ole’ Hershey’s bar doesn’t generate the same experience. Their white chocolate is pretty creamy though, and cherry cheesecake is such a novel & kickass flavor choice. Fruity cheesecake also reminds me of summer; not only because I like to eat it in summers months, but because that’s what I look like in my Speedo on the beach.
Hershey’s Cherry Cheesecake uses their white chocolate with crispy cookie bits and cherry cheesecake flavor. The cookies come as a bit of a surprise but could be a fun play on the texture of a graham cracker cheesecake crust. Think of it as a spin on their Cookies ‘n’ Creme Bar, but this time the “creme” is shorthand for “entire block of cream cheese.”
Oh my Gawd, this candy actually does taste a little like cheesecake…
You get a tangy & creamy flavor right away from Hershey’s Cherry Cheesecake. It’s sweet for sure, but it’s the tanginess that separates it from the classic Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme. More importantly, the tangy/creamy combo works about as well as you can hope for from a cheesecake flavored candy bar. When I think back to the awful White Cheesecake M&M’s, I am even more certain that Hershey’s did a good job here.
Layered under that cheesecake vibe is a fruity element that I find refreshing in a weird way. It’s definitely in the berry family if it’s not immediately recognizable as cherry. I’m especially impressed that it doesn’t taste too much like cough syrup like most attempts at this kind of stuff. The cherry flavor complements that creamy component well if I do say so myself. It adds complexity and makes this bar a real standout from other white chocolates you can find at the NY bodega.
In summary, this is some Big Time, Big City shit from Hershey’s.

I am glad it worked out. Will buy it when i see them.
Now, if this was a chocolate cheesecake candy bar.. I’d be all for it. Not a huge fan of cherry anything though. Is cherry the only flavor they make this particular candy bar in?
Yes unfortunately for you it’s only cherry!
Ahh damn it. 🙁 Figures, because that’s my luck. Lol
Best candy bar I’ve ever had. I’ve been to 3 WalMarts, 3 Dollar Generals, 2 Family Dollars, and 1 Walgreen’s just today hunting them. No luck. Someone on another website wrote a scathing and lengthy review of how terrible they were and I’m afraid that has caused Hershey’s to not make more. I will keep searching and writing and calling Hershey’s, 1 800 468 1714.
