In a summer suspiciously absent of s’mores products, Dunkin was wise to bring back one of its best offerings to date:

Dunkin’ Donuts S’mores Donut

Dunkin’s Donuts S’mores Donut is a yeast-based donut with a toasted marshmallow filling, chocolate frosting, graham cracker pieces, mini marshmallow candies, and bits of Hershey’s chocolate seen here melting in the sun:

This is nearly as good as it gets from Dunkin’. The marshmallow creme filling has a nuanced sweetness that will have you saying: “Damn, that’s actually pretty marshmallowy.”  Dunkin’ didn’t skimp on it either; as seen above, it’s explosive, and it stretches from end to end.

Dunkin’ used their normal chocolate frosting, but also doubled down by adding bits of Hershey’s chocolate to make the chocolate taste more authentic – a smart choice for s’mores.

The soft and chewy mini marshmallows from last year have been replaced with these new marshmallow-flavored candy squares, but thankfully they taste pretty good and I might even prefer their texture as a donut topping.

The name of the game for Dunkin at this point is simply distracting from the shortcoming of the yeast shell, and the toppings/fillings in the S’mores Donut do it as good as any Dunkin’ yet. The only thing holding this back from being a perfect Dunkin’ donut is that the graham cracker pieces lose their crunch from sitting out.

You can safely commit to a half dozen, a full dozen, or a dozen dozen.
