Alright, who the hell named this product? This review will be read by zero because nobody is going to correctly Google: “Trader Joe’s And the Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe’s.

Here are some ways I envision it going wrong:

– “Trader Joe’s Outstanding Joe-Joe’s”
– “Trader Joe’s Joe-Joe Box”
– “Trader Joe-Joe’s Multiple Flavor Thing”
– “Trader Joe’s and the…” (*Opens New Tab*) “”

Trader Joe’s and the Multi-Flavor Cookie Thing

The name’s a mouthful, but Trader Joe’s and the Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe’s is a foodie’s paradise. You’ve got a tried-and-true product in the Joe-Joe cookie (TJ’s version of Oreos) covered in various chocolate with all sorts of toppings and flavorings. At its core is the same principle that make limited edition Oreos so appealing to everybody. Here’s the full description of Trader Joe’s and the Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe’s:

“A collection of past & present Joe-Joe’s sandwich cookies decadently enrobed in various chocolates with drizzles and sprinkles.”

Yum City! The four varieties are:

  1. Peanut Butter (in milk chocolate with a dark chocolate drizzle)
  2. Double Chocolate (in dark chocolate with a milk chocolate drizzle)
  3. Peppermint (in dark chocolate with peppermint sprinkles)
  4. Ginger (in white chocolate with ginger snap sprinkles)

We’re going to jump right into the review, because just typing that out filled me with eager anticipation as well as actual legitimate for my life expectancy.

Peanut Butter

First up is Peanut Butter. It was hard to imagine Trader Joe’s going wrong here with chocolate + peanut butter, but this cookie is superb. The peanut butter permeates the entire cookie sandwich, and the creamy element that defines a refined milk chocolate really stands out. The quality of the peanut butter itself is also excellent. For whatever reason, I was expecting a stiffer peanut-butter flavored creme, like something a traditional Oreo might have. But this peanut butter was really smooth and creamy.

It’s difficult to dissect anything additive about the dark chocolate drizzle, but it’s a sexy decoration for a cookie sandwich whose technical execution is outstanding as is.

Double Chocolate

Next up is Double Chocolate. This sounds the most boring of the bunch, but never count out Trader Joe and his ability to deliver on otherwise mundane formulas. The flavor is “double chocolate in dark chocolate with a milk chocolate drizzle,” and while I’m not sure the cream itself is a combination of two chocolates or just twice the dosage of one, it doesn’t matter. This cookie is great too.

I picked up some unexpected coffee undertones that I also enjoyed a lot. The dark chocolate robe adds some bitterness, which the sweet cream counterbalances to a level that is well above-average.

We begin the second half with Peppermint. You can also purchase this product as a standalone, packaged as “Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe-Joe’s.

These cookies have a creamy, peppermint center that’s studded with shards of candy canes, sandwiched between two chocolate peppermint wafer cookies. Then the whole damn thing is sprinkled with more candy canes. The textures are the most fun yet, with the crunchy candy cane bits adding lots to love.

The mint-to-chocolate balance is just right. These were so tasty that I budgeted half a cookie for review purposes but ended up eating two full cookies. With each cookie at 130 calories, 7g of fat, and 11g of sugar, this speaks volumes to both the cookie’s quality and how little I care about myself anymore.

Trader Joe's and the Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe's

Our last entry is the most unique. The Ginger cookie is the only one covered in white chocolate, and it also contains ginger sprinkles.

Aaaand I have a new favorite cookie. The spices in this one are divine – the ginger prevalent without being overpowering. On the sweet side, we have plenty of molasses, brown sugar, and white chocolate that orchestrate a symphony of flavors that blend together in concert. The spice is what I love most, but the white chocolate imparts a sweet vanilla creaminess that really takes this cookie to the next level.

Ginger is polarizing – I get it. This might not be everyone’s favorite, but if you have an appreciation for all things ginger, this cookie is incredible.

Trader Joe’s and the Astounding Multi-Flavor Joe-Joe’s is a remarkable winter seasonal package that, thankfully, has returned every year since its introduction many years ago. If you’ve slept on it in the past, stop sleeping on it in the present.

Take my word – these are worth every penny and every calorie.

The peanut butter ones are my favorite! I wish they sold them separately. But then, I would really be in trouble.

They’re really, REALLY good. All of them. I really had to nitpick to create some parity, but I am positive that ginger is my finger because of how unique it is. It would be really nice for all to be sold separately!

The PB ones remind me of the PB Roundels. That Peanut butter is so smooth and spot on. TJ’s killed this pack. Sad I don’t live close to one to try and make a roadtrip for this as I went through the whole pack in like a week last year :(.
