Pigging out on tortilla chips now comes in Classic, (Mild), and Fire!
Holy Guacamole, where is my guacamole for these new TACO BELL Tortilla Chips?!
The chips are produced by Sugar Foods (not Taco Bell), but flavors are inspired by the widely popular Mild Sauce and Fire Sauce that the fast food chain sells. As someone who pilfers as many packets as my pockets can bare on every Taco Bell run, I’m confident that these are the tortilla chips we’ve all been waiting for.
But the fun doesn’t stop there; the packages are even designed to look like gigantic sauce packets, complete with multiple versions (like two) of the whimsical sayings on the front.
There’s also a “Classic” flavor, but literally… who gives a shit?

Taco Bell Mild Tortilla Chips
According to Taco Bell, the Mild tortilla chips are seasoned with the bold flavor of Taco Bell’s Mild sauce, including hints of three chili peppers and cumin.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the chips are super seasoned. They’re thicker and more sturdy than something like Doritos or Tostitos, with a tight crunch that is pretty epic. I wasn’t expecting the underlying chip quality to be as high at it is.
As for the replication of Mild sauce? REALLY damn close! A little garlic, lots of fresh jalapeño, and even more salt. A healthy dose of cumin and tomato powder gives it classic Mexican flare. Well, cheap Mexican – with all due respect to Taco Bell of course… because I love cheap Mexican food. The flavors build and land squarely on Mild sauce.
You could definitely make an argument that they’re too salty or too heavily seasoned, but surprisingly, the sodium content isn’t even that high (6% DV per serving). This is how I like my chips.
Job well done. I can’t wait to make homemade Nachos BellGrande® with these.

Taco Bell Fire Tortilla Chips
According to Taco Bell, the Fire tortilla chips convey the fiery flavor of Taco Bell’s Fire sauce, with hints of jalapeño, chili peppers and paprika.
Oh yeah… these are my jam too, and ohhhh my are they spicy!
Almost everything I said about the Mild chips holds true with Fire, except instead of a fresh & mild jalapeno spice, it’s more sharp with more heat like chile peppers. I think these are even spicier than Taco Bell’s Fire sauce, but the flavor combo is 100% accurate otherwise. Proceed with caution or even avoidance if spice simply ain’t your thing.
The true test of authenticity will come later; if I shit my pants, they nailed it.
