Sour Patch Kids Freeze
First came Fire, and now comes Freeze from the Sour Patch Kids.
These are Sour Patch Kids in four new lemonade flavors, with a cooling sensation added to each. The cooling is accomplished via the addition of menthol, the same stuff we use in medicine to treat minor aches and pains.
This is why we shouldn’t let kids make lemonade…
The four flavors in Sour Patch Kids Freeze are: lemonade, strawberry lemonade, blue raspberry lemonade, and cherry lemonade.
Yellow is lemonade, which tastes pretty much like you’d expect it to. With the extra sour and plenty of sweet present in all Sour Patch Kids, it’s a little difficult to distinguish this as a lemonade flavor versus any other candied lemon, but it obviously has a place in this mix. The cooling sensation seemed faint to me.
Red is strawberry lemonade, which I quite like and it does remind me of a pink lemonade more than yellow reminds me of a classic lemonade. Cooling sensation was either more noticeable, or it simply builds over time.
Blue is blue raspberry lemonade. The blue raspberry flavor is par the course for its kind initially, and then the lemon flavor comes trailing in from behind. This is about when I realized the cooling sensation is unnecessary, bordering on a turn-off.
Green is cherry lemonade, which totally should have been some kind of limeade, but is not. At least it tastes more like lime than cherry. And there it is… my breaking point for the cooling sensation. I don’t like it.
In summary, these are the best tasting cough drops I have ever had.
