Hershey and Reese’s Whipped Creams

Oh me, oh my with these new candy-bar inspired whipped creams!

When I was a wee little very large fat kid, an ice cream sundae consisted of a scoop of vanilla ice cream, enough Reese’s and candy that I couldn’t even see it, finally finished off with whipped cream and Hershey’s syrup until Mom cut me off.

The Hershey’s and Reese’s Whipped Creams are nothing if not efficient, and this time my Mom can’t do shit to stop me from going straight reckless.

If these are any good, I will spray them on my entire life.

Hershey’s Whipped Cream

Hershey’s Whipped Cream – or more accurately Hershey’s “Dairy Whipped Topping” – is made with Hershey’s cocoa, real cream, and “natural flavor with other natural flavor.”

For sure the Hershey’s Dairy Whipped Topping is loaded with cocoa that is unmistakably Hershey’s cocoa. It’s very, very rich in cocoa flavor with a caveat – it tastes like Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa. Thankfully the heavy cream, skim milk, and a little extra sugar sweeten it enough to save it from being too bitter.

I generally enjoy it and am particularly impressed with how much it tastes like a Hershey’s product. But after eating things like Oreo Cool Whip and Double Chocolate Brownie Cool Whip, I can’t look past the fact that this is merely a chocolate whipped cream, inferior to the aforementioned.

Would be better if it shot out projectile candy bars along with the cream.

Reese’s Whipped Cream

The Reese’s Whipped Cream, er… Reese’s Dairy Whipped Topping, is made with real cream but not real peanut butter.

And oh my God, I hate it so much.

The Disappointment of the Year as far as I’m concerned, the Reese’s Dairy Whipped Topping bears little resemblance to a Reese’s product other than a vague – and quite frankly, nasty – peanut flavor. It tastes like taking a shot of whipped cream and then a shot of peanut extract. It’s not sweet enough with less than 1g of sugar – an unforgivable characteristic when Reese’s is the goal. It reminds me of the Reese’s Coffee Creamer without any sugar, and there’s no chocolate to speak of.

Now, it’s still kind of cool to have SOMETHING of a peanut butter-flavored whipped topping at our disposals. Also just looking at the awesomely orange Reese’s branding on the bottle fills me with joy, and that counts for… something, I guess.

But the main thing I’ll be spraying this on is the garbage.
