- Boosted metabolism.
- Anti-inflammatory effects.
- Reduced risk of death. (Seriously).
Of course none of this applies today because we’ll be eating candy.
Sweet Heat Skittles & Sweet Heat Starburst
New Sweet Heat Skittles and Sweet Heat Starburst, aka the flavors that nobody asked for, are finally here!
Do you think this is weird? Me too! Each package contains an assortment of fruity flavors with a spicy kick.
Sweet Heat Skittles
The Sweet Heat Skittles flavors are (from left to right): Sizzlin’ Strawberry, Flamin’ Orange, Lemon Spark, Blazin’ Mango, and Fiery Watermelon.
Each Skittle tastes normal Skittley while you chew, and then things get spicy right around the point you swallow. The heat isn’t intense, nor is it negligible. While this spice is generic and identical for all five flavors, it actually meshes with the fruity flavors left on your tongue better than I anticipated. Maybe it’s the novelty but I appreciate the heat more here than I do in spiced chocolate, for example.
The Fiery Watermelon flavor is by far the best with the biggest swing from sweet-to-spicy in the lot.
Sizzlin’ Strawberry is second with a tartness I enjoy.
Lemon Spark and Flamin’ Orange are fine but familiar – the two where I noticed the heat the least.
Blazin’ Mango is the weirdest, yet I still enjoyed it for reasons I’m not quite sure.
Sweet Heat Starburst
The Sweet Heat Starburst flavors are (from left to right): Flamin’ Orange, Fiery Watermelon, Pipin’ Pineapple, and Strawberry Mango.
Same thing here with the fruity flavors coming first well before the heat kicks in. Overall I didn’t find them as spicy as the Skittles, but with that said, I enjoyed this fruity flavor mix more.
The Fiery Watermelon is just as excellent as the Skittles form.
The Pipin’ Pineapple is incredibly accurate and refreshing.
The Strawberry Mango tastes great despite them forgetting to slap a “hot” designator on the name.
Flamin’ Orange is whatever.
Burning Questions:
- Why the hell did they do this? Beats me.
- Will spicy foods really reduce my risk of death? No. Everyone dies eventually.
- OMG did you realize you called these BURNING questions? No.
