Today’s review will not be your typical review. We would just like to feature a really fun product borne of a really great cause. In September 2015, Frito-Lay announced on its social media pages a partnership with the It Gets Better Project, an LGBT youth advocacy group. The It Gets Better Project’s mission is “to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them.”
Frito-Lay announced that it would offer Doritos Rainbows, a mixed bag of brightly colored Doritos chips inspired by the LGBT Pride flag, to those who made donations with the It Gets Better Project. All proceeds would go directly to the charitable organization. As for the chips’ taste, they are merely Cool Ranch flavored Doritos with a colorful makeover. We were happy to donate, and we don’t even need to eat Doritos Rainbows to review them:
Snacking for a Really Great Cause Rating: 10 out of 10
Bold and Proud Rating: 10 out of 10
Doritos Rainbows Overall Rating: 10 out 10
As a limited edition product (our specialty), we would now like to showcase each of the vibrantly colored Doritos individually. A brief, lighthearted biography of each Rainbow Dorito appears below:
The Purple Dorito looks like Grimace and tastes like Cool Ranch Grimace. It plays for the Los Angeles Lakers and hangs out with cauliflower, sometimes. It currently holds an 88% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and received 11 Oscar Nominations in 1986, although it did not take home any of them.
The Blue Dorito is great at creating puzzles and guiding its master to the solution. A graduate of Duke University, it peaked at Number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1999. Its favorite drink is Pepsi Blue, and it routinely performs stage shows in Las Vegas.
The Green Dorito’s favorite day of the year is December 25th. As it represents wealth in the United States, it is extremely well-liked by nearly all Americans. Although it tends to rear its ugly head whenever it gets jealous, its appearance on trees each Spring is met with a more favorable reaction.
The Yellow Dorito looks exactly like a Cool Ranch Dorito, because that’s exactly what it is. It’s a popular flavor of Dorito, often splitting sales with Nacho Cheese. It’s consumed in large quantities during the Super Bowl by the author of this article.
The Red Dorito is man’s best friend and stands at approximately 25 feet tall. It resides between two land masses: Africa and Asia. It was adapted into a video game, Pokemon, where it was the better of the two versions originally released for the Gameboy. Its favorite cake is “velvet,” which is really just a fancy name for chocolate.

This is a fabulous idea! Glad you put the message out there to get awareness for this cause!
This was a no brainer!
