General Mills Hershey’s Kisses Cereal
KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. A popular principle used by everyone from engineers to software developers to members of the U.S. military. Simplicity guarantees the greatest level of user acceptance; whenever possible, complexity should be avoided. Whether it be technology, combat, or just shoving chocolate down your gullet, KISS usually prevails.
Intentional or not, it’s the very principle that has vaulted Hershey’s Kisses to popularity. You just want a piece of chocolate? Boom, unwrap a Kiss. You want chocolate for dinner? Boom, unwrap two hundred Kisses. Not all of us want nuts and gummy worms and toothpaste jammed inside our chocolate. Some of us – and in some ways all of us – just want chocolate.
So it makes sense that General Mills would pick Hershey’s Kisses for its next chocolatey cereal. With all the variations of chocolate-flavored cereal competing for buys, why not make THE chocolate cereal – the one modeled after the most iconic chocolate in the U.S.?

I won’t bury the lead any further. The Hershey’s Kisses Cereal tastes exactly like Cocoa Puffs. The problem isn’t the simple formula; it’s that the formula isn’t different enough from Cocoa Puffs.
Though they used Hershey’s brand of cocoa powder in the recipe, it doesn’t change the flavor in any noticeable way to make this a preferred option. You taste chocolate, then you taste corn cereal.
It doesn’t taste any different than Cocoa Puffs, and it definitely doesn’t taste like Hershey’s Kisses.
The novelty of the cereal is this: it either looks like Hershey’s Kisses, poop emojis, or dicks… depending on your mood.
