Frank’s RedHot… “I put that sh*t on everything.”
Lay’s Potato Chips… “I’ll eat whatever the f*ck flavor they put out.”
Welp, fam, my hands are tied!
Lay’s Frank’s RedHot Hot Sauce Chips
Sure Lay’s has had Hot Sauce flavored chips before, but never before have they had THE hot sauce of all hot sauces.
Now, that’s not to say Frank’s RedHot is the hottest sauce. On the heat scale, it is probably the ketchup of the hot sauces. But it does bring a really great flavor rooted in cayenne pepper and rich in history. Frank’s says it was the secret ingredient in the original Buffalo wings created in Buffalo, NY in 1964, and I’m not smart enough (or committed to the research enough) to dispute them.
I gave ’em a good sniff and I got a strong salt & vinegar chip aroma with no indication that these would be overwhelming in the heat department.
The initial taste test definitely brings both of the aforementioned salt & vinegar, but a lot more elements along with it. I for sure get garlic and cayenne pepper, and some of that other depth you get with most hot sauces. Heat level is very moderate – appropriate for Frank’s RedHot.
Now, aside from the level of the heat, I’m not so sure I would have pinpointed this hot sauce flavor as Frank’s if you weren’t telling me it’s supposed to be Frank’s. But since you are telling me it’s supposed to be Frank’s, I guess it’s close enough. They’re tangy, they taste good, and that’s about all there is to it.
Frank and Lay’s… you make a good chip.
But I’ll eat anything, with anything on it, so take my review with a grain of salt.

- How many Scovilles is that? Idk, I must have been absent the day they taught PEPPER CALCULUS in school. ?
