Well how the hell else was I gonna eat it…?
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Ginger Hold the Cone!
It’s Ice Cream 101: you gotta hold the cone to lick it, though you can pretty much swallow these particular ice cream cones whole.
If you’re unfamiliar with Trader Joe’s Hold the Cone!, they’re miniature ice cream cones… plain and simple. Creating them is a little more complicated than that. Here’s a mesmerizing video on how they’re put together:
I need one of those machines in my house.
Trader Joe’s reworked their Hold the Cone! line last year by improving the quality of the cone, improving the quality of the ice cream, AND increasing the amount of product per box. To celebrate fall, they also expanded from Chocolate and Vanilla varieties to offer this Pumpkin Ginger Hold the Cone!
Each box features eight ginger-flavored ice cream cones filled with pumpkin ice cream covered in white confectionary coating. I already ate two.
The cones themselves taste like waffle cones with a light flare of ginger. The pumpkin ice cream, though it contains cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, also mostly tastes like creamy frozen ginger. It does have a bit of pure pumpkin flavor going for it, but a smooth and mild ginger is the lead act and it’s quite refreshing and delightful. The texture of the ice cream is a bit icy, and the white confectionary coating adds a burst of sweetness.
They’re quite simple, but I can’t hate on these much at all. They’re a really fun treat when eaten as a whole, and the combination of light ginger and waffle cone is a cool novelty worth the 86.67 calories per cone.
Burning Questions:
- Are these as good as the Mini Ginger Pumpkin Ice Cream Mouthfuls? No.
- Are the Mini Ginger Pumpkin Ice Cream Mouthfuls coming back? Not this year.
- Why not? Probably something you did.
