Doritos Twisted Lime
Description via Frito-Lay: These crunchy tortilla chips are the perfect combination of tangy and heat with a mouth-watering lime flavor that finishes with a kick. Continuing the brand’s momentum after the smashing success of Flamin’ Hot Lemon earlier this year, Doritos wanted to bring fans a new lime-flavored chip that packs that same intense citrus punch, without the overpowering heat.

I personally did NOT care for the Flamin’ Hot Limon Doritos, but I actually do enjoy these Twisted Lime Doritos quite a bit more. The flavor is very much lime-forward but then the fresh jalapeño and garlic sneak up on you. The lime doesn’t taste as artificial on these for some reason. They play more like a Cool Ranch Dorito with some heat and lime thrown in.
I’m still not convinced that we needed varying degrees of spicy lime-flavored Doritos, but perhaps Frito-Lay is telling the truth when they say the Flamin’ Hot Limon ones are popular enough to warrant it. These Twisted Lime Doritos are good enough that I think they should just replace them entirely. However, Frito-Lay says these will only be available for a limited time during the fall and winter months.
If you only eat one or two, they really aren’t all that spicy. But as I ate more and more, the heat definitely built. At the very least, you can’t say the heat is a non-factor because I’m pretty certain people who hate spicy foods would also hate these.
Lime is far from my favorite flavor on chips, but for my money the Twisted Lime Doritos are the best lime-flavored chip in the Frito-Lay family. That includes Tostitos Hint of Lime.
