Ben & Jerry’s Glampfire Trail Mix is back on shelves as a Target exclusive flavor! Please find our review below:
Does anyone remember when trail mix was healthy? I didn’t think so, but allow me to take you for a little hike down memory lane.
There was once a time not long ago when trail mix was nuts, fruits, and seeds. It was simple… pure… nutritious, even.
Soon, the nuts were covered in chocolate. Later, the nuts were removed entirely. Peanut butter cups would replace the fruit shortly thereafter. The seeds? Caramel popcorn.
Here is trail mix today:
Today, it’s just ice cream:
New Ben & Jerry’s Glampfire Trail Mix! And since we’ve already found a way to ruin the whole point of trail mix, let me tell you how we’ve also ruined the whole point of camping.
It’s called “glamping.” You might not have heard the term until now, so let me explain as fast as I can. Glamping is when your “adventurous” friend suggests you go camping, but your ass is wayyy too bougie to shit in a hole in the ground.
Glamping is when:
- Your sleeping bag has a Wi-Fi password.
- Your outhouse has a bidet.
- Your outhouse is indoors.
- Your indoor outhouse has a breakfast buffet in the lounge.
- ….you’re in a hotel.
Inside the freezer of your five-star tent are complimentary pints of Ben & Jerry’s Glampfire Trail Mix.
You will later learn that they’re not complimentary.
Ben & Jerry’s Glampfire Trail Mix is chocolate ice cream with crunchy pretzel swirls, marshmallow swirls, and fudge-covered almonds.
Does Ben & Jerry’s have the best chocolate ice cream in the game? For sure not, but it’s absolutely the right choice here. What good would a trail mix be without a shit ton of chocolate anyway? This is a steady and straightforward chocolate that pairs well with all of the mix-ins, which there are tons!
You see that marshmallow pool? You might have one at the resort you’re camping at, but the one in Ben & Jerry’s Glampfire Trail Mix is amazing too. Marshmallow swirl is something this company does very, very well.
And as good as the marshmallow swirl is, it’s not even the best thing in this pint!
That award goes to this incredibly pretentious crunchy pretzel swirl, which is sooo much more than a gimmick. Not only is it wonderfully salty and bready with a consistency similar to their graham cracker swirls, but it elevates everything around it. The chocolate is transformed into a refined, salted chocolate, and this ice cream hits the always-successful sweet & salty notes whenever you combine the pretzel and marshmallow swirls.
And the fudge covered almonds? So much better than their go-to fudge flakes. Glampfire Trail Mix suddenly becomes an elegant Rocky Road.
This stuff is so good they should sell it in Sky Mall.
