Using only the finest fruit from the sacred Pop-Tart tree, Kellogg’s has created an entire fruit salad worth of new Pop-Tarts:
Let’s face it: we all need to get ourselves back in shape after the All-You-Can-Eat Lockdown Buffet that was 2020. Exercise is great, but like the old saying goes: you can’t out-run a year’s worth of GrubHub in one week. The best way to make long-lasting changes to your diet? Add some fruit!
Look, it’s not MY fault that all the ripest fruit in the store happen to be Pop-Tarts. I’m just out here trying my damn best like the rest of us, and my local groceries are stocked to the brims with juicy new fruit-filled Pop-Tarts. Lemons, bananas, peaches, mangoes… you name it. (That’s it, that’s all of them).
And sure, they’re flavored like dessert in a pastry that’s already dessert, but we all gotta start somewhere… GET OFF MY DAMN BACK!
Today’s review is part of a series. Today’s new fruit-flavored Pop-Tart is:
Kellogg’s Lemon Creme Pie Pop-Tarts
We’ve had Pink Lemonade Pop-Tarts a few times before, but now we’re finally getting a lemon Pop-Tart that celebrates lemon in it’s most natural form… inside of a pie.
You’ll have to put aesthetics aside for these Lemon Creme Pie Pop-Tarts. Right off the bat, they win the award for the most unaesthetic Pop-Tarts that have ever existed. They look like somebody spreads classic yellow mustard on top of a pie crust, and then topped it with some overcooked garlic.
For the record, I’d still eat that.
Taste wise, Lemon Creme Pie Pop Tarts fare much better. These Pop-Tarts have a pretty pure lemon taste thanks to the lemon powder used in the filling. It’s nice to have a bit of sourness inside of a Pop-Tart from some natural lemon flavor. Lemon and pastry just go so well together.
When you eat them uncooked, you get some lemon cake vibes. With the icing on top, I’m kind of reminded of the Hostess Lemon Cupcakes but with a much less synthetic feel.
I’m of the camp that almost all Pop-Tarts taste better toasted, and these Lemon Creme Pie Pop-Tarts provide more backing for my stance. Toasting them transforms them into something reminiscent of a warm lemon crisp, which is something I’ve never eaten and I just made up.
All in all, Lemon Creme Pie Pop Tarts are an outstanding addition to the Pop-Tart lineup and should not be slept on.
Burning Questions:
- What if I don’t like lemon? Reevaluate your taste buds.
- What if I don’t like Pop Tarts? Revaluate your life.
- What if I don’t like YOU? Now you’re onto something.
