Man, when Little Debbie isn’t making us fat, she’s making us fatter!
Little Debbie Ice Cream
It’s official: Little Debbie now has a bigger presence in your kitchen than you do…
As if your pantry wasn’t already a permanent home to Ms. Debbie’s snack cakes (how DID those get in there, anyway?), your lunch box has now invaded your freezer too thanks to SEVEN new Little Debbie Ice Creams that are here to absolutely destroy your diet:
- Oatmeal Creme Pies ice cream.
- Cosmic Brownies ice cream.
- Zebra Cakes ice cream.
- Honey Buns ice cream.
- Strawberry Shortcake Rolls ice cream.
- Swiss Rolls ice cream.
- Nutty Bars ice cream.
The new treats are made by Hudsonville Ice Cream – a brand that’s been around since 1926 that you might not have heard of until February 1st when all 7 of these Little Debbie Ice Creams showed up on your Facebook feed and instantly gave all of your fat deposits an erection.
The ice creams are available exclusively at Walmart, where they’ll be available year-round for just $2.50 a pint!
This review is part of a series. Today’s Little Debbie Ice Cream is:
Little Debbie Honey Buns Ice Cream
Little Debbie Honey Buns ice cream features a honey bun flavored ice cream with glazed honey bun pieces and a sweet cinnamon swirl.
I’ll be perfectly honest with you: while I don’t dislike Little Debbie Honey Buns, they were always the low man on the totem pole in my Little Debbie Power Rankings. They never actively cracked my rotation of Little Debbie purchases, but I would never turn one down if it was right in front of me. But I suppose that’s not saying much for a guy named “Junk.”
Still, I am pleasantly shocked that I think this is the best Little Debbie ice cream in the lot.
The honey bun ice cream base is surprisingly well done. It reminds me of a sweet cream ice cream with subtle honey undertones. I like the flavor on its own, but even if you found it a little plain, there are a lot of mix-ins between the swirl and the glazed honey bun pieces.
The cinnamon swirl tastes like candied cinnamon sugar; it’s almost streusel-like. It’s certainly more cinnamon than you would find in an actual Little Debbie Honey Buns pastry, but it adds more depth and really stands out against the honey bun flavored base. In addition to the flavor, I quite enjoy the little bit of grit and texture it adds.
The glazed honey bun pieces taste wonderful too. The ingredient list just calls them doughnuts, which… I’m not complaining about if that’s what Hudsonville chose to throw in here. They have more crunch than I expected, almost making them feel more like cookies than honey buns.
Overall, Little Debbie Honey Buns ice cream surprised me in just about every good way you could imagine. It’s certainly the most unique of the bunch; you never see a honey bun base let alone honey buns (or at least something that closely mimics them) used as a mix-in. I suspect many people are going to walk right past this when its stocked next to better-sounding Little Debbie flavors, but trust me – do NOT be one of those people.
Burning Questions:
- Did you see they have a Zebra Cakes one? I’m not gonna buy this. I know.
- Which are better, regular Honey Buns or Iced Honey Buns? Regular, the iced are too much.
- You’re literally eating a Honey Buns Ice Cream – how is anything too much? Touché.
