“I love you… here’s some raspberries.”

Raspberry + Creme Kit Kats
I’ve made it no secret that I have a special relationship with flavored Kit Kats, spending hundreds of dollars to acquire weird flavors over 6,000 miles away in Japan, and then having little tasting parties complete with frilled toothpicks and many internal questions about where my life went wrong.
In Japan, you’ll find crazy Kit Kat flavors like adzuki bean sandwich, cough drop, ginger ale, grilled corn, matcha tiramisu, purple sweet potato, soy sauce, yuzu pepper, and lemon vinegar. Can you believe it? Lemon! Gross!!
In America, you’ll find… Raspberry + Creme Kit Kats.
I guess I shouldn’t complain though. Hershey USA appears primed to release a whole bunch of flavors in the States this year. Although none are as weird, flavors such as Birthday Cake, Apple Pie, Chocolate Cream Pie, Orange Creamsicle, Cotton Candy, Cherry Cola, Blueberry Pie, and Sweet Potato Pie all look they are either in development, in testing, or scheduled for release in the near future.
Raspberry + Creme Kit Kats are a limited edition Valentine’s Day seasonal, replacing the Red Velvet Kit Kats of yesteryear.
Hopefully in a couple years we’ll follow Japan’s lead and be treating our significant others to Avocado Toast Kit Kats or some other kind of bullshit flavor.
Raspberry + Creme Kit Kats feature crisp wafers in a raspberry flavored white creme.
Unwrapping one, I really enjoy the fruity scent that they give off.
And that’s about where my compliments cease.
Guys, your mileage may vary, but I hate these. The raspberry flavor is prominent; I’ll give them that. It is also terrible. Wayyy too artificial.
The real loss comes about three seconds after you stop chewing, when a wildly bitter flavor pops a squat and settles in right on your tongue. I got this nasty after-effect on four in a row and finally threw in the towel. I literally ate a baby carrot to get the flavor off my tongue.
I bet next year’s Boiled Carrot Kit Kats will be a major improvement over these.
Burning Questions:
- Are you exaggerating? I am not.
- What was your favorite Japanese Kit Kat? Grilled corn.
- What’s it gonna take for you to get laid? A miracle.
