Skittles Gummies
Description via Skittles: The Skittles you love, now as gummies.
Description via Junk Banter: Skittles that you already chewed up.
New Skittles Gummies is a brand-new physical form for Skittles that includes none of the signature candy shell that makes a Skittle a Skittle. Instead, these are soft, chewy gummies available in the same Skittles flavors (both Original and Wild Berry).
How much they taste like regular version will be the subject of today’s review.
Original Skittles Gummies
The five flavors in Original Skittles Gummies are strawberry, orange, lemon, grape, and (ugh) green apple.
Strawberry (red) does a pretty decent job of tasting like its original form, but probably only gets about 75% of the way there. It’s a slightly less intense flavor.
Orange (orange) has similar results. A more mellowed version of the Orange skittle.
Lemon (yellow) I hate. This tastes like the off-brand yellow lollipop you got at the Doctor’s office as a kid when you had a boo boo. Unlike the first two, this flavor is TOO intense, and it doesn’t taste like the yellow Skittle.
Grape (purple) is somewhere between the original Grape skittle and Dimetapp.
I’m not even going to review the Green Apple (green) one because I’m just pissed off it’s not lime.
Wild Berry Skittles Gummies
The Wild Berry Skittles Gummies are wild cherry, melon berry, strawberry, berry punch, and raspberry.
Wild cherry (red) tastes exactly like a Luden’s wild cherry cough drop, which is to say it’s delicious.
Melon berry (green) is awesome I think some kind of watermelon, and it’s just awesome.
Strawberry (pink) tastes better than the strawberry in the Original Skittles Gummies but is still pretty meh.
Berry Punch (purple) is like a medley of berries blended into a fruit cocktail. Plus a buttload of sugar.
Raspberry (blue) tastes like most blue raspberry candies with that little bit of sour trailing the sweet.
Skittles Gummies are a mixed bag. In the plus column, I really like how soft the gummies are and they’re also quite large (about the size of a dime each). However, a lot of them don’t taste like the original Skittles, and therefore they probably don’t need to exist.
Without a doubt, though, the Wild Berry Skittles Gummies are the way to go if these pique your interest.
Burning Questions:
- Why did they get rid of the lime Skittle? Because they hate us.
- Why does every doctor have that yellow lollipop? Because they also hate us.
- Why would I want a Skittle without the shell? You don’t.
Place of Purchase: Sent to me by Skittles (thank you for the samples!)
Rating: 5.5 out of 10 (Original) / 8 out of 10 (Wild Berry)
