Decadence is a fudge brownie. Ooey, gooey, and chewy, few desserts hit the spot better than a warm, freshly-baked chocolate brownie. But what if – WHAT IF – the fudge brownie was merely the building block/artery block to culinary inspiration? What if we just took brownies, said “to hell with everything,” and started stuffing them inside of whatever we damn-well pleased? Snyder’s of Hanover is way ahead of you. Introducing Snyder’s of Hanover Fudge Brownie Pretzel Sandwiches!
Now we’re talking my language! That language is “Fat English,” by the way. Pretzel sandwiches aren’t anything new to me- Synder’s of Hanover currently offers peanut butter pretzel sandwiches, cheddar cheese pretzel sandwiches, and raspberry creme pretzel sandwiches for some disgusting reason. Seriously, I tried those… they suck. But BROWNIES! This may just be an inside-out chocolate-covered pretzel, but the mere mention of the word “brownie” has got me all-in. I don’t care if it’s name porn. I love brownies so much. I am so fat.
The packaging describes Synder’s of Hanover Fudge Brownie Pretzel Sandwiches as having a mouth-watering, thick & rich fudge brownie filling carefully sandwiches between two crunchy, bite-sized Pretzel Snaps for kids of all ages. This nearly 30-year old kid cannot wait, so into my face they go. I went into this really curious if the brownie filling is worthy of the name. My thoughts? They did a great job with this filling. These pretzel sandwiches don’t taste like the sweet milk chocolate coating on your standard chocolate-covered pretzel, no no. The filling is extremely soft and tastes more like a homemade fudge with an ever-so-important saltiness to balance all that table sugar. The taste of cocoa is robust and delightful. High praise for this filling.
Ironically enough, the problem I have with Snyder’s of Hanover Fudge Brownie Pretzel Sandwich lies in the pretzels themselves – the company’s signature. This could vary on preference, but I take issue with the lack of salt. There’s literally no surface salt to speak of here. Sure; the pretzel dough is fine in and of itself. But without the salt, the pretzels are a bit too bland for my liking. With two fairly thick pretzel snaps, it steals the spotlight from the delicious fudge brownie filling that reeled you in for a purchase. The flavors don’t clash – that’s not the problem at all. It’s just that the ratio of unsalted pretzel to fudge brownie filling could be improved. Twisting them in half and eating one pretzel snap with the filling, I really liked these A LOT. But such a strategy would leave me with a pile of unsalted pretzels that I rather not waste my time with.
That criticism aside, Snyder’s of Hanover Fudge Brownie Pretzel Sandwiches are still a fine product. I blasted through multiple servings, developing a fine appreciation for the brownie filling . Another plus is that they’re not even terrible for you – one serving is 9 sandwiches at 130 calories, 4.5g of fat, 20g of carbs, and 6g of sugar. Regarding the salt, they’re only 3% of my daily sodium. Dear Snyder’s of Hanover… you already crammed a brownie between two pretzels; I don’t care to watch my salt intake today. I sprinkled on some of my own sea salt and all my issues were solved.

No problem! Happy to share what I’m enjoying and what I’m not. I’ve repurchased the Smores kettle corn multiple times.
