Given their resounding success with the last breakfast-flavored English muffin (Maple French Toast), Thomas is now trying to upstage himself.
“How many different breakfasts can I cram into one package?” ? (This emoji is Thomas by the way)
Thomas’ Bacon Buttermilk Pancake English Muffins – for when you don’t know what you want for breakfast but you know you want all of it.
Let’s see: the vehicle is still the English muffin (Breakfast #1), flavored with bacon (Breakfast #2) and hot cakes (Breakfast #3) that are typically made from a batter containing eggs (Breakfast #4 – I’m counting it), all before you even top the damn thing with anything (Breakfasts #5-100).
I won’t lie that this feels a bit confused. I’ve not once topped my pancakes with bacon like the graphic on the package. I’ve definitely crossed streams before, but bacon and pancakes satisfy two different niches for me. And truthfully, I would never turn to the ole Nooks & Crannies if what I really wanted was pancakes.
Basically, this is a dumb flavor and I can’t wait to try it.
If you’re the type of person to eat your English muffins untoasted with nothing on them, 1) ew and 2) these won’t be your favorite. For the most part they just taste like English muffins. There’s a slight maply sweetness but it’s not as full-frontal as in the Maple French Toast, and they don’t carry the same “I totally just came in my pants” French Toast aroma. The bacon is barely noticeable and the pancake thing is a stretch, too. There’s a subtle creaminess that’s probably coming from the buttermilk, but I’m probably making that up if we’re being honest.
I guess butter is the logical place to start with Thomas’ Bacon Buttermilk Pancake English Muffins.
This is a definite improvement and toasting them brought out a bit of the bacon flavor. The tiny bit of char and extra crunch from toasting is a good way to complement the light smokiness and saltiness that the little soy bacon thingies possess. And what good are pancakes without butter anyway?
Adding almost anything else would qualify as making an entirely new breakfast dish. Add cream cheese and you’re making a run at stuffed French toast. Add jelly and suddenly you’re fucking with crepes. If you make a breakfast sandwich with Thomas’ Bacon Buttermilk Pancake English Muffins, you might actually enter the Matrix.
Trying to decide between all these possibilities overwhelmed the shit out of me, and that’s how I ended up here:
At best, eaten under any format, these still pale in comparison to MFT.
