When I said I wanted a smokin’ hot butt, I certainly wasn’t asking for this.
Nestle Smokin’ Hot Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups are the latest product to infuse spice into chocolate, despite the fact that nobody wants them to. But like all smoking hot butts, I’ll definitely welcome this one with open arms and an open mouth. (Good Lord…)
Plus it also has peanut butter, which is my favorite “butt” of them all.
But honestly is anyone really excited about this? We’ve seen several products like this suck before (I’m looking you dead in the eye, Chili Nut M&M’s.) I’ve also had Peanut Butter & Co. “The Heat is On” peanut butter before, and it turned every sandwich into hot garbage. To boot, Nestle Buttfinger Peanut Butter Cups can’t hold a candle to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
But maybe if we put all of these things together it will be good…?
Nestle Smokin’ Hot Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups start out just like the original: a muted Butterfinger flavor without a huge peanut butter punch. There are only faint traces of that crispety, crunchety, peanut buttery texture. That was always my gripe about Nestle Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups. Without the signature crunch, they’re just a lesser form of Reese’s Cups.
The second stage of Nestle Smoking’ Hot Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups is the heat. It comes on super late, like well after you swallow, and when it does it pretty much overwhelms the chocolate and peanut butter flavors lingering in your mouth. This was the exact same problem I found with the Chili Nut M&M’s. There’s no harmony here at all and the heat isn’t even as intense as the M&M’s.
When I went back for subsequent bites, the heat that lingered from the first bite made it especially hard to detect any saltiness from the peanut butter. Then the heat intensified again. Dumb.
If Nestle Smokin’ Hot Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups are any butts, they’re these:
