As all the pumpkins have officially shriveled and/or been smashed by hooligans, I’m crying myself to sleep over here. But while I scoured the shelves for every last bit of pumpkin spice to last through a cold and arduous winter, I was greeted with mountains of mint.
Mint chocolate, mint chewing gums, mint toothpaste… I mean, where do they think of this shit?

Ben & Jerry’s newest Target exclusive flavor is Minter Wonderland, and what a wonderful world it is whenever we get a new B&J’s flavor to fuel our holiday weight gain.
Minter Wonderland is a flavor that Ben & Jerry’s has carried in other countries, but they’ve completely revamped it for the U.S. version. The foreign iteration is simply mint ice cream with chocolatey chunks, but we are a nation that demands a little more gluttony in our snack game.
Our version features a dark chocolate mint ice cream with wintry white marshmallow swirls and chocolate cookie swirls.
The dark chocolate mint ice cream is new for Ben & Jerry’s to the best of my knowledge, but the marshmallow pools certainly are not. Their infamous marshmallow swirl is rich and gooey and it’s definitely not hard to come by in this pint, so kudos to Ben & Jerry’s once again for that.
The dark chocolate mint ice cream is rich as well – in a good way. Their dark chocolate base has much more flavor than their plain chocolate and milk chocolate bases, so every spoonful is better by default. The mint level is moderate and combines well with the dark chocolate ice cream. Neither is overpowered, so it’s a smooth and satisfying experience.
Sadly, the chocolate cookie swirls in Minter Wonderland left some to be desired. Not only was it lacking in quantity, its flavor was hard to notice up against the robust dark chocolate in the base. It adds some grit but not much else. I think actual chocolate cookie sandwich chunks – creme and all – would have been a better option.
One thing I can say for certain: I don’t like this as much as the deceased Chocolate Peppermint Crunch, which featured chocolate ice cream with peppermint & fudge swirls and mint chocolate cookie balls. The mint cookie balls in particular just gave this supersonic crunch that is sorely lacking in Minter Wonderland.
At the end of the day, Minter Wonderland is tasty but… it just caused me to mourn the losses of (1) pumpkin spice, (2) Chocolate Peppermint Crunch, and (3) Glampfire Trail Mix which I BELIEVE is kicking the bucket to make room for this flavor.
Guess they should have called it Minter Blues…

I tried this a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. I like the addition of the marshmallow to mix and enjoyed the dark chocolate ice cream. If you’re a fan of chocolate mint, you’ll probably be a fan of this. However, much like Junk Male, I have mourned the loss of Glampfire since the summer. It said limited edition and I assumed it was gone forever. However, whilst sticking my head in the bottom shelf of the B&J area on my local Target, I found not one, not two, but SEVEN pints of Glampfire there! I don’t know where they came from because I scoured the shelves in the early Fall looking for Glampfire for several weeks before the final and painful acceptance that it just wasn’t coming back. I was hoping that maybe they did bring it back, but when I went to check out, the Glampfire wasn’t even found in the Target system and the price had to be entered manually. So, I don’t know if it’s back or it was just a Christmas miracle from the ice cream gods, but I have seven pints of Glampfire sitting in my freezer that I will try and make last as long as I can…which probably means like Sunday. Here’s hoping the ice cream gods smile on all of you this holiday season!!!
