Uhhhh, I think my Dunkaroos are broken…
Dunkaroos Cookie Dough
As well all know damn well by now, Dunkaroos returned in 2020 and well – 2020 got to ’em. The year that tested all of us has literally withered Dunkaroos down to its raw ingredients and left us with this Dunkaroos Cookie Dough, which released late last year but I finally just found. Now normally I’d tell COVID to go ‘F itself in the you-know-what (and make no mistake, I still feel that way), but in this case we might as well enjoy a rare silver lining…
Dunkaroos. Cookie Dough.
This is a remarkable turn of events considering Dunkaroos didn’t even exist this time last year. Not only are they back in original form, but we’re already starting to see spin-off products that play off their greatness.
Even if… they bend the rules a little bit.
Or maybe, a whole lot…
So, it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly that the Dunkaroos Cookie Dough is kind of a raw deal. What we have here is just plain ole’ sugar cookie dough with vanilla frosting that has rainbow sprinkles in it. That’s all fine and good, BUT you get cheated pretty bad. To make room for the two packets of Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip frosting in the package, you only get SIX cookies. ☹️
They also give you the option to cut them into quarters, roll into balls, and make 24 mini cookies, but who do they think I am… Chef Gordon Ramsay?
There’s only so many ways to say “these are just regular sugar cookies”, but all of them apply here. These are just regular sugar cookies.
How much you enjoy the sugar cookies by themselves is 1000% directly correlated to how much you like Pillsbury Sugar Cookies, because they’re one in the same (General Mills own both brands).
The frosting is Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip frosting.
Once you have the frosting packets emptied into a bowl and start dipping the kinda soft, kinda crunchy cookies into the frosting, you can appreciate the nod to Dunkaroos a little bit, but more than anything you still feel pretty ripped off. You will eat all six cookies, you will eat all the frosting, and you will enjoy all of it, yet STILL feel at the end of the day that you haven’t really had anything special.
In summary, my Dunkaroos are definitely broken.
