I swear they never get my order right…
When I want a half-pump of syrup, I get two. When I want skim milk, they give me regular. When I want a Unicorn Frappuccino, all I get is the middle finger.
I asked for an ICED Pumpkin Spice Latte, guys. I didn’t want it frozen.
Thanks, Edy’s/Dreyer’s!
I guess I shouldn’t complain about my order too much. Certainly worse things have happened in a cold, dark basement than typing some words about ice cream at your computer to seven people who don’t get out much, and about five of whom are my immediate family.
Edy’s/Dreyer’s Pumpkin Spice Latte is coffee light ice cream swirled with pumpkin light ice cream.
On paper, this sounds pretty boring – just two basic ice creams mixed together? The Starbucks’ recipe for a Pumpkin Spice Latte includes espresso, sauces, syrups, whipped cream, and a topping that includes real pumpkin pie pieces…
But at least this entire container only cost me $3.99, instead of Starbucks’ asking price of a trillion dollars and 29 cents.
Despite my reservations, I must admit that Edy’s/Dreyer’s got a good deal right with this flavor.
Particularly, the balance between the two flavors successfully captures the essence of the iced pumpkin beverage. The colors are so similar that they bleed together, but I found elements of both coffee and pumpkin in every bite. They blend together well and have sufficient sweetness.
Let’s also give points for authenticity. The ingredients use real coffee, real pumpkin, and real spices that include cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. I taste all of it, and though they could all pack a little more punch, it’s pretty solid for light ice cream.
Coffee is listed first, but I got the pumpkin spices upfront with a coffee finish.
Still, I can’t help but feel that Edy’s/Dreyer’s Pumpkin Spice Latte is missing, like, ONE other component to make me crave this more. Imagine if they added biscotti pieces, madeleine cookies, or some other pretentious shit I would order at Starbucks if I could ever afford it?
This ice cream was constructed with a pretty low ceiling, but at least it reaches it…
In summary, they spelled my name wrong on the cup again.
