Maple Creme Oreos are back for 2020! Please find our review from last year below, updated with pictures of the new packaging:
Hey Canada, you finally got your own Oreo!
…and it’s available in the U.S. because we get all the good things first! ?
Look, I’m gonna level with you guys. There have been a LOT more exciting flavors than these new Maple Creme Oreos. As a reviewer who desperately struggles to be funny so I can pretend people like him, a flavor like Maple Creme Oreos doesn’t provide a strong platform for success.
I’ll do my best, but this review is going to suck.
To try and make things interesting, here are some interesting facts about maple trees that I found from this article titled “Interesting Facts about Maple Trees.“
- There are approximately 128 species of maple. (Ok?)
- Most species are native to Asia. (That doesn’t sound right.)
- The lifespan of a maple tree is between 100 and 400 years. (Geeze Louise!)
- A maple leaf is on the coat of arms of Canada, and is on the Canadian flag. (Yummy flag!)
Ok so none of those were interesting… which is exactly my point.
Anyway, now here are some interesting facts about Canada, from this article “25 Interesting Things about Canada:”
- Canada is one of the friendliest countries in the world. (Sounds like an opinion.)
- At least 10% of the population is vegetarian or vegan. (Sounds lame.)
- Around 90% of Canada’s land is uninhabited (Sounds about right.)
- Canadians love poutine and maple syrup. (Now we’re talking!)
Until we get those Poutine Oreos, these Maple Creme Oreos may just be the best thing that Canada has ever inspired us to do.
With the standard Golden Oreo wafer and a simple maple flavored creme, Maple Creme Oreos are approachable and unassuming like most Canadians are. Perhaps they are the most polite Oreo of all-time.
But they are also awesome. Remember the Waffles & Syrup Oreos from a couple of years ago? Maple Creme Oreos are like those, but with the maple flavor intensified to appropriate heights. Being that my major criticism of the Waffles & Syrup ones were not enough maple flavor and I still gave them a 7 out of 10, it’s easy to understand that we’re trending towards a very positive review.
The scent is great, the flavor is great… there’s not much more to it than that, but God these are delicious. While the maple creme has a strong enough flavor eaten alone, I find that it tastes more like maple syrup when complemented by the sweet Oreo wafer. The combination just flat out works, and they’re also great dunked in coffee.
Are you guys still awake? If so, go buy these new Maple Creme Oreos for a real treat.
Except if you live in Canada…
You guys get nothing.
