Let’s be honest with each other… does anyone really know what nougat is?
Okay, well it’s fudge now.
Milky Way Fudge
Just as I was beginning to understand regular nougat, (??♂️), Mars has doubled down on chocolate with new Milky Way Fudge.
As if I had any problem understanding chocolate…
The brand new Milky Way variant keeps the milk chocolate and caramel, but switches out the regular nougat for a fudge flavored nougat. It’s the same model followed by those charming little Milky Way Marshmallow bars that I adored, where marshmallow nougat was used.
But will more chocolate make these redundant, or richer?
It’s actually both.
Whatever the f*ck normal nougat is, the classic Milky Way has a distinct flavor that combines sweet milk chocolate, slightly salty caramel, and a little bit of “oomph” from our special friend we don’t fully understand.
Milky Way Fudge tastes richer, and though it is straightforward, it should delight chocolate lovers to some degree.
However, the extra dose of chocolate softens the impact of the caramel substantially. It’s not so much that it’s irrelevant (definitely not), but it starts to make Milky Way Fudge taste more like a 3 Muskateers (just chocolate + nougat) with a teeny tiny dose of caramel mixed in.
Some of you will find this a real treat; I find it pretty boring.
Anyway, I’ve got some important research to tend to:

Burning Questions:
- So what did you find? The French pronunciation is [nuɡa].
- What else? The word comes from Occitan pan nogat.
- But what is nougat? I don’t know.
