Indulge me for a second and picture your perfect fall date. Is it closer to:
- A lovely trip to an apple orchard, wherein you spend the day breathing in the fresh autumn air, pointing out the fattest pumpkins in the patch, and arguing with your date about how many bushels of god damn apples you need to pick off trees to bake that apple pie you won’t actually bake.
- Holding hands as you walk into Walmart to buy cold cuts, white bread, and Oreos.
Either way, you’re going home with some apple cider donuts!
Nabisco Apple Cider Donut Oreos
Who said romance is dead?! Not Nabisco, says me, as I stare adoringly at these new Apple Cider Donut Oreos and realize the best fall date I’ve ever had is me getting two Little Caesers Hot-N-Ready pizzas for myself on my way back from a corn maze I did alone.
The newest Oreo is Nabisco’s latest try at a donut Oreo, following Strawberry Frosted Donut and Jelly Donut Oreos. What’s more interesting, though, is that we’re getting a fall flavor nobody’s ever tried before. Sure, I would love if Nabisco simply brought back Pumpkin Spice Oreos, but Apple Cider DONUT? Yes, we’ve had Apple Pie Oreos, but they were so polarizing: half of us thought they tasted like candles, and the other half apparently loves to eat candles.
These Oreos feature the golden wafer and an apple cider donut flavored creme.
(Sorry, but that is just so much fun to say).
By now you should have eaten enough donut Oreos in your life to know that these don’t taste like donuts. More specifically, they taste nothing like apple cider doughnuts.
But that doesn’t mean they’re not delicious!
First, there’s a fun little surprise inside the Apple Cider Donut Oreos. The creme has crunchy sugar crystals to help mimic the sugar coating on a freshly fried apple cider donut. But if we’re being honest, apple cider donuts have always had a very subtle flavor. These have a much bigger, brighter apple flavor and some cinnamon spice too.
The pastry these remind me most of is actually an apple fritter. The creme has confectioner’s glaze and honey powder, and I’m getting those extra sweet notes like the glaze covering an apple fritter. It’s evened out by the real cinnamon, and I don’t think the apple tastes as artificial as the Apple Pie Oreos did. It’s a win-win-win for everyone.
Who needs fall plans when you have Oreos?!
Burning Questions:
- So do you just never have plans? Oreos are plans!
- Yeah, a Weight Gain Plan… Still a plan!
- And how’s that plan working out for you? Almost too well!

You know confectioner’s glaze is shellac, right? Not donut glaze. More than likely it’s on the sugar to keep it crunchy.
No Jeremy, I DON’T know that.
