Happy Halloween! Here’s a not-that-new candy bar review that I wrote in March but forgot to publish until today.
The last time I used “butt,” “finger” and “dark” in the same sentence, well… I don’t even want to tell you about it.
But I do want to tell you about Butterfinger Dark.
Brand new Nestle Butterfinger Dark follows Nestle Crunch Dark in what is a very… dark movement for the brand. Surely, it’s the darkest thing they’ve ever done since discontinuing my beloved Butterfinger BB’s. Those were bae…
Butterfinger Bae Bae’s.
Rest in darkness, my sweet Triple B’s.
The design needs no special attention: at its core is the same Butterfinger center you know and love.
Here’s the description of the original Butterfinger straight off the Butterfinger website:
“There’s nothing like the crispety, crunchety, peanut-buttery taste of Butterfinger. We’re a true original and we’re not about to change a thing.”
And then here’s a link to four different times they changed something:
Nestle Butterfinger Dark is for sure a delicious spin on the on the classic Butterfinger. Pit dark chocolate against milk chocolate in a street fight and I’m betting on dark chocolate probably 8 times out of 10. If you think the original Butterfinger is a bit too sweet, Butterfinger Dark balances it out.
However, I don’t think Butterfinger Dark is “lights out” amazing in the same way that Twix Dark was, for instance. I find it a little challenging to appreciate the subtleties of a dark chocolate against such a powerfully peanut buttery center. I’m nitpicking here, but Butterfinger Dark is probably equivalent in score to the original, though it gets there by different means.
I guess the only place left to go is Butterfinger White?
Nah just playin’. Once you go dark…
Burning Questions:
- What happens once you go dark? ?
- Okay but like Butterfinger White sounds amazing. I know. What’s your question?
- How much do you weigh?Sorry, no more questions.
Place of Purchase: Nowhere. This was sent to me by the Butterfinger team. Thanks Butterfinger!
Rating: 8 out of 10
