Me: “Man, I need a stiff cookie.”

Pepperidge Farm Amaretto Hot Cocoa Milano

Pepperidge Farm Amaretto Hot Cocoa Milano

If you’re a thinking “Go away, Milanos, you’re drunk,”  you very well may be correct. For the second time in as many years, Pepperidge Farm is releasing a new Milano flavor centered around an alcoholic beverage. The new Amaretto Hot Cocoa Milano cookies follow last year’s Irish Cream Milano Cookies.

Like this post if you like it when things get you drunk!

Of course (and unfortunately), there’s no actual alcohol in Amaretto Hot Cocoa Milanos. But these are sure to speak to the hearts of those of us who like to add a little splash of sumthin’ sumthin’ to our winter beverages. Raise your glass if you know what I’m talking about. ?

Never had amaretto? I feel sorry for you, and it’s a almond-flavored sweet Italian liquor. It’s great addition to coffee, gives Tiramisu it’s signature flavor, and, of course… works well in hot cocoa.

This is basically the “boozy” version of the Toasted Marshmallow Milanos.

The smell is inviting, dominated mostly by the dark chocolate but with a clear undertone of almond flavor.

And quite frankly, they’re the best Milano cookies I’ve ever eaten.

Normally my major criticism of Milano Cookies is that the advertised flavor is too weak. This is certainly not the case with Amaretto Hot Cocoa Milano Cookies. The almond/amaretto flavor is totally pervasive for the entire duration you’re chomping on this delectable treat. Somehow, the amaretto flavor makes the chocolate taste darker and richer, even though I’m certain it is not. I’m not really able to distinguish if it’s closer to hot cocoa than any other chocolate Milano, but it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of this cookie at all.

The only reasons this doesn’t get a perfect score is the absence of alcohol and the fact that every Milano cookie is a bit too dry.

Both of these reasons can be remedied by pairing with a stiff cocktail.

Burning Questions:

  1. Why do I get the sense that you’re just always drunk? Because you’re not drunk.
  2. Will I like this if I hate amaretto? This is a dumb question.
  3. Do you really think it’s a good idea to call your readers dumb? I don’t have any readers.
