In my junk food bloggin’ journey, I’ve witnessed many twists and turns in the evolution of M&M’s. From the return of Crispy M&M’s, to new flavors of Crispy M&M’s through voting contests with chilis and Thai coconuts, to the injection of caramel and fudge brownie… I’ve pretty much experienced it all.
I guess you could say my road to obesity goes directly through M&M’s, and right now’m sitting in a 40-car pileup.
Rockin’ Nut Road M&M’s
The new Rockin’ Nut Road M&M’s are exclusive to stores owned by Albertson. Good luck finding the road to a store owned by Albertsons because I’ve never heard of most of them. They include:
- Albertsons (obviously)
- Safeway
- Acme
- Vons
- Shaw’s
- Jewel-Osco
- Amigos
- Andronico’s
- Balducci’s
- Carrs
- Haggen
- King’s Food Market
- Lucky
- Market Street
- Pak ‘n Save
- Pavilions
- Randalls
- Star Market
- United Supermarkets
- An actual store called “Tom Thumb”
Rockin’ Nut Road M&M’s are also an evolution of another Mars product: Rockin’ Nut Road Snickers, which debuted all the way back in 2008.
The Rockin’ Nut Road M&*M’s are marshmallow-flavored with a peanut inside. As of press time, they’ve only been spotted in the 9.0 oz “sharing size” bag of which you’ll share exactly 0.0 oz with friends and family.
As I pop a few into my mouth, I’m greeted with the familiar Peanut M&M’s flavor and a hint of moderately marshmallow flavor. While the marshmallow addition isn’t the strongest, it does pair nicely with the flavors already present. Since Peanut M&M’s already rule, this makes for a fun little twist.
One bummer is that the more you eat, the less you realize there’s even a marshmallow flavor added. This suggests that the marshmallow flavor could stand to be stronger if these wanted to maintain their novelty. I also think it would be more unique and taste even better if they used the Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M’s as the building block.
Criticisms aside, these are quite addictive and I’m on the expressway to not fitting into my swim trunks this summer.
Burning Questions:
- When you swim, do you sink straight to the bottom? Yes.
- Does this taste like rocky road ice cream? No.
- Why is it called “Tom Thumb”? I guess Tommy Toes was taken.
Place of Purchase: Not “Tom Thumb”

Going to Rehoboth next month and they have an Acme. Hope they still have them.
I’ve seen Vons in San Diego.
I used to work at a Tom Thumb. It’s bougier than you’d guess from the name.
Oh wow, I definitely pictured it as a dirty, dirty place where anything goes.
They are amazing!
Tom Thumb is just a convenience store, we have them in MN.
