Peach cobbler… peach cobbler… hmm. Guys, there’s no backstory for peach cobbler. It’s peach cobbler. I did a Google search on peach cobbler and found nothing interesting. I did find this though.
Tastykake Peach Cobbler Mini Donuts are the latest seasonal flavor for Tastykake, introduced alongside the re-released Tastykake Strawberry Mini Donuts. I picked these up without hesitation for one reason – I couldn’t figure out if they sounded great or terrible. This one could go either way. Peach cobbler is a delectable little dessert that’s appropriate for spring. But… I just don’t know. Last fall, I gave the Tastykake Caramel Apple Mini Donuts one of the lowest scores I’ve ever dished out on the blog. Turning a complex dessert into a crumb-topped mini donut made entirely out of garbage ingredients is a not-so-mini endeavor.
Tastykake Peach Cobbler Mini Donuts are little fat bombs made with so many different ingredients that I can’t read them. The font is so small and my eyes are so full of fat that I can’t be sure what’s in these. I thought I saw “peach,” but it was just “paprika.” The nutrition label offers that each mini donut is 57.5 calories, but you all remember the golden rule, right? Food this tiny and adorable doesn’t even count. 0 calories x 50 mini donuts = 0 calories. Guilt-free snacking, people.
Haha, well this is the easiest review I’ve ever written. You’ve had this product before in another form. Tastykake Peach Cobbler Mini Donuts taste exactly like, wait for it… peach rings. Yes, these peach rings, the sour candy covered in sugar. There are very, very few differences. One is floury and doughy, while one is gummy and chewy. One is a doughnut, and one is a candy. That’s it.
I really can’t describe these any other way. Tastykake Peach Cobbler Mini Donuts don’t taste buttery, or like brown sugar topping, or like nutmeg and whatever and stuff, because they are too busy tasting exactly like peach rings. Both products are a combination of sweet and sour. They are both circular. Hell, even the crumb topping feels like the sugary coating on top of the candy version. The big difference here is that you weren’t expecting it out of a doughnut. It doesn’t taste bad, it doesn’t taste great, and it doesn’t taste like peach cobbler. Do with this information what you will.
