Trader Joe’s has a poor track record with ice cream, but can they make ice cream flavored cookies?
Find out tonight on this week’s episode of “Check This Shit Out:”
Trader Joe’s Neopolitan Joe-Joe’s
I will never ever forgive myself for not trying Nabisco’s Triple Double Neopolitan Oreos, so it’s Trader Joe’s to the rescue.
Neopolitan Joe-Joe’s are playfully constructed with one chocolate wafer, one vanilla wafer, and a strawberry flavored creme. This is a really unique way to achieve the advertised flavor and I applaud T-Joe for it. We haven’t seen a sandwich cookie with mixed components quite like this since the Banana Split Oreos, which I loved unconditionally.
I am both ashamed and proud of my deep and rich Oreo cookie knowledge.
With Trader Joe’s Neopolitan Joe-Joe’s, the dark brown wafer is chocolate-flavored. The cocoa flavor isn’t as strong as Nabisco’s, but it’s certainly chocolate.
The golden wafer is vanilla-flavored. Light and a little buttery, I find it more successful than the chocolate, though it’s not as sugary as Nabisco’s. I will never stop comparing things to Oreos.
The strawberry-flavored cream, therefore, is of paramount importance to the cookie’s success.
Oh, and it is paramountly good.
The strawberry cream completely makes this cookie. It’s super fluffy, made with freeze dried strawberries, and tastes EXACTLY like strawberry ice cream would if it were fluffy and made with freeze dried strawberries.
I can’t get over how good this strawberry cream is. It tastes wayyy less artificial than the cream in the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Oreos, and authenticity is a good look on this cookie.
The best ice cream that Trader Joe’s makes isn’t ice cream.
It’s this.
Burning Questions:
- Is their ice cream really that bad? Yep.
- Why didn’t you try the Neapolitan Oreos? I was on a fitness kick.
- Boy those days are long gone, huh? Yep.
