If you have trouble finding love on Valentine’s Day, look no further than cookies:
Nabisco Chocolate Strawberry Oreos -what a great idea! Chocolate-covered strawberries are an iconic gift for Valentine’s Day, and Oreos are an iconic gift for yourself every day. Gifts for everyone!
Chocolate Strawberry Oreos are Nabisco’s interpretation of chocolate-dipped strawberries. They’re constructed with multi-layered cremes: an outer ring of chocolate and an inner ring of strawberry. I would have loved to see a Strawberry Creme Oreo that was then completely enrobed in chocolate, but hey… maybe I’ll grow to love these just as much.
Love is sometimes funny like that.
I’m really hoping these are good for everyone’s sake. They could be a great way to drown your sorrows if you can’t find a Valentine’s date. And for those who do have partners? You can feed each other Chocolate Strawberry Oreos until you’re both too full to have sex.
Not that I would know anything about that.
I took a small bite of Chocolate Strawberry Oreos and confirmed that the brown creme is just chocolate. This creme will be familiar to anyone who buys the Chocolate Oreos they sell year-round. If any differences exist, my palate isn’t sophisticated enough to detect them.
Sidebar on the Chocolate Oreos: I’ve never been a huge fan. The creme is definitely sweeter than the deep, dark, & bitter Oreo wafers, yet still lands a bit redundant to me. The only straight chocolate creme Oreos I truly loved were the Brownie Batter Oreos. The creme had a richer, more decadent chocolate flavor that felt more sophisticated. Something like this would have worked better for chocolate-covered strawberries, since the strawberries are typically dipped in higher-quality chocolate.
Let your baseline for expectations start with how much you enjoy regular Chocolate Oreos.
I dug deeper and got to the strawberry-flavored creme. This is when my Valentine’s Day plans took a turn for the worse.
The strawberry creme in Nabisco Chocolate Strawberry Oreos tastes just like the creme in the Strawberry Shortcake Oreos. I feel this creme is massively artificial and excessively sweetened. It tastes like too much Strawberry Nesquik powder blended with Oreo creme. I was left with a chemical-strawberry aftertaste with a faint medicinal quality to it. This triggered some really haunting memories of Swedish Fish Oreos, and my appetites for cookies and love were squashed simultaneously.
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts with Chocolate Strawberry Oreos. The highly sweetened strawberry creme is tempered and balanced against the chocolate creme and the cocoa wafers. However, it didn’t remind me of a chocolate-dipped strawberry; it reminded me of two different Oreos I don’t particularly care for.
Oh well. Maybe I’ll find love next year…

Oh, so disappointed! Those shortcake cookies were like Frankenberry!
That’s another good comparison! And there were many people that really enjoyed those Oreos. Hopefully they like the chocolate version a little more. Just not for me.
I have never understood the need for anything other than a Double Stuff Oreo. The grands insisted on the newest chocolate dipped strawberry version. They didn’t eat but a few, “didn’t taste like a strawberry” they complained. So just give me a fork, a glass of cold milk and my double stuffs and I’ll be happy.
Haha, I hear ya Melissa. Truth is a double stuf Oreo is hard to beat. But the way I’m wired, I’m intrigued to the novelty of the limited edition flavors. I have probably eaten enough regular Oreos for an entire lifetime, so I wanna see how they do with newer flavors. I will never forget that the original ones won my heart first.
