Much like when I reviewed Toasted Coconut Oreos, I am drawing a blank for an intro.
Continuing the tradition, here are the five best Gingerbread jokes I found on the Internet:
5) What did the gingerbread man put on his bed? A cookie sheet.
4) What do you call a gingerbread man with one leg? Limp Bizkit.
3) What does a gingerbread man use when he gets older? A candy cane.
2) Why did the gingerbread man go to the dentist? He had Gingervitis.
1) Why didn’t the gingerbread man have any friends? Because he was a ginger.
Gingerbread Oreos were first released back in 2012, but I didn’t buy them because I’m an idiot. They’ve returned in 2015 as an exclusive flavor to Target, and I bought three packages because I’m an idiot.
It’s no surprise that they’ve returned. Gingerbread is a must-have flavor for the holidays, and Oreos are a must-have cookie for every day. It seems like I’m reviewing a new limited Oreo flavor every week, probably because I actually am reviewing a new Oreo flavor every week.
I am not sure if I am in more urgent need of a trip to the dentist or a trip to a mortician.
Gingerbread Oreos are made with the standard Golden Oreo wafer and a gingerbread flavored creme. With Nabisco’s recent trend towards flavoring the wafers themselves, I’m a little disappointed they didn’t try to create a gingerbread wafer for these. But what are you going to do… start a junk food blog and complain about it to the five people that read your blog?
Leave that up to us.
Ok, timeout. Before you shove these Gingerbread Oreos into your face, pause and smell them. This scent is magical. I can’t even say that it’s distinctly gingerbread – it actually smells better. Its scent reminds me more of Speculoos cookies more than it does gingerbread, and you better believe I’m ok with that. The odd part is this – the creme itself doesn’t really taste all that special. It’s a sweet cream with some pleasant cinnamon and mild ginger, but not enough to explain the effervescent aroma.
A little perplexed, I crammed the whole thing into my mouth. CLASSIC OREO MAGIC. The hyper-sweet Golden wafer is the missing piece to this gingerbread puzzle, and I felt thousands of tiny gingerbread men dancing on my tongue (click this link for nightmares). It’s not a gingerbread cookie replica; it’s a hybrid between a Golden Oreo and a gingerbread cookie. That is a very, very, very good thing. Limited Edition Oreos are best when they retain their Oreo-ness and add the advertised element rather than trying to taste exactly like something else. I’m excited to build my fat reserves for the winter on these Oreos.
In summary:

How Much I Have In Common with Cookie Monster Rating: 7.5 out of 10
Overall Rating: 9 out of 10
It’s kind of hard to screw up this flavor in an Oreo. How do you think these would taste with a gingerbread cookie/wafer and a icing in the middle as the creme? Great review!
That sounds like a swell idea, Sarah!
Great review until I got to the end and saw cookie monster’s breast being fondled by a gingerbread man. And then realized I was looking at that totally wrong, but now it can’t be unseen. So I got that goin for me, which is nice.
I need an adult. And some of these Oreos.
Welp, now I can’t un-see it either. This entire blog is tainted. Thanks, Kacy!
Kacy, I now see Cookie Monster as a schlub in a wife beater with man boobs. Judging by his eyes, there was meth involved in the set up for this picture and I’m sure that something unsavory is causing the stank fumes to rise from the underage gingerbread boy who betrays his discomfort even through his hazy confusion.
I no longer covet this oreo.
omg.. it took me a good 3 minutes to figure out what it was supposed to be. all i could see was cookie monster breast fondling!
Well I inadvertently derailed this post, my apologies, however I give Sarah’s backstory an enthusiastic yet appropriately solemn 10/10.
Hahaha took me forever to see what it was supposed to be
You’re all perverts. Welcome to the blog.
first off love the blog and love the review. I found these in 2013 at the time they were Walmart exclusive. I fell in love with them and was very sad last year when i never found any. This blog has brought me so much joy to learn that I now need to go to target instead. I don’t care which store I have to go to i’m just happy to have the correct info so I can go buy a few soon. That will be followed by buying more next week and so on and so forth till the season is over. Then I will cry for a moment and have to wait till next year. I am not 100% greedy though I do share with some people. Thank you for having the info for me to find my precious Oreo again. Thank you for the info and the review. Thank you for this wonderful blog.
Hey Jaime! Thanks for all that wonderful feedback; it makes my decline in health completely worth it. I didn’t know they were Walmart exclusive back in 2013. That explains it… I didn’t live near a Walmart back then. Definitely stock up when you do find them – only one Target I’ve been to was carrying these so far. I’ve also learned to never trust that Nabisco will bring them back the following year. STOCK UP.
