Keebler Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes are back on shelves! Please find our review below.
The Keebler elves have been quite busy as of late. They’ve been hard at work rolling out limited edition varieties of their popular Fudge Stripes line including Birthday Cake and Strawberry Cheesecake. It should come as no surprise that they wanted to get in on the pumpkin spice action with these Keebler Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes.
Bless their tiny pumpkin spice hearts.
When these first debuted, it had been a long while since I had any Keebler Fudge Stripes cookies, but I obviously had little choice than to try these. The innocent, clueless child in me remembers enjoying these cookies, but the marginally-more-mature version of me didn’t have high expectations for the Fudge Stripes brand. In my adult years, I’ve never viewed Keebler Fudge Stripes as being capable of a sophisticated cookie.
As you’ve probably figured out by now, I’m somewhat critical when it comes to pumpkin spice products. I demand greatness.
There’s a HUGE pumpkin spice aroma when you open these bad boys. The scent is genuine and not artificial. Did I set my bar too low?
Taking a bite confirmed that I did. These cookies are LEGIT pumpkin spiced – more than most products. The leading flavors are the deeper spices in the pumpkin spice blend; instead of an overdose of cinnamon, I’m getting a lot of clove and ginger. I’m reminded of gingerbread cookies but with more pumpkin flavor, and that’s a good thing. The cookies are crispy and light, while the flavor is robust and complex.
There’s a thick layer of white icing on Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes that adds a good deal of sweetness with no discernible flavor. It makes the cookies more visually appealing, but I’m not sure it amounts to anything more than decoration. No matter. The balance between the sweetness and the spices is remarkable for a Keebler product.
The package I opened was a sticky white mess, perhaps victim to the hot temperatures in my car or perhaps indicating that the Keebler elves got a little too excited about these pumpkin spice cookies.
While I had tempered expectations, Keebler Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes are an early dark horse for Best Pumpkin Product of 2015. I can’t imagine any pumpkin spice junkies that would be disappointed in these. The authentic pumpkin spices are just delightful, and they’re dangerously addictive because of how light they are. Sticking to the serving size of two cookies is going to be a challenge.
Unless you are an idiot who doesn’t embrace pumpkin everything, don’t sleep on Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes. Head to the nearest Walmart and grab these before the Keebler elves move on to winter seasonals (tomorrow).
