Blueberry Pie Oreos are back on shelves! The review below was originally published in June 2016 when Blueberry Pie Oreos were exclusive to Target. For 2017, they’re being sold in random stores like Albertsons, Shoppers, Shaw’s, Wegmans, HEB, Food Lion, and Cub Foods. The review is republished below with updated photos and minor edits. Good luck in your hunt!
It started with a Tweet that nobody read yet one person liked:
Hearing the #Target exclusive summer #Oreo is Blueberry Pie, but I also hear lots of other crap. ¯\_(?)_/¯

My primary goal in life is to know the next Oreo flavor immediately. Accordingly, I have assembled a team of cookie-obsessed mutants like myself to monitor the rumor mill and pursue leads. This underground network – The Cookie-Obsessed Mutant Squad – is responsible for the first reveal of Blueberry Pie Oreos and the perfect Fruity Crisp Oreos. Through some means of definitely illegal activity, we struck gold that we may never strike again. My motive? I’m just a fat kid with an even fatter heart who NEEDS TO KNOW.
Our work led me to achieving my second goal in life – being featured on TeenVogue.com. (Editor’s Note: The Instagram post has since been deleted, due to some… trouble, I got in).
You may not have heard of Junk Banter before these reveals, so allow me to formally introduce myself:
My name is Junk Banter, and I am going to jail for leaking new Oreos.
Nabisco Blueberry Pie Oreos are a play on a classic summer favorite. Scour Pinterest and you will find thousands of recipes that incorporate Oreos into desserts, to include pies. It’s only right that Nabisco flips the script and turns the pie into an Oreo. Its first entry into the pie game was a curious but effective one – Key Lime Pie Oreos. Nabisco’s second entry carries much broader appeal. You can find this Target-exclusive either at Target or at my house, which might as well be the official warehouse for limited edition Oreos. (Editor’s Note: You can no longer find these at Target).
Nabisco Blueberry Pie Oreos feature the graham-flavored wafer and a blueberry -flavored creme. I’ve criticized the graham wafer for not tasting quite like graham crackers, but take a whiff of your Nabisco Blueberry Pie Oreos once opened. There’s some intense graham cracker aroma when you get up close.
You’ll have to think about blueberry pie before you can smell a trace amount of what blueberries taste like – not what they smell like, but what they taste like. Blueberries in their raw form don’t have a smell. If you don’t believe me, stick some blueberries up your nostrils and get back to me. This could be why the scent of the graham is so pronounced – any competing aromas are minimal.
The reason I bring up the scent of blueberries and not “blueberry pie” is because the creme in Nabisco Blueberry Pie Oreos is strictly blueberry flavored. The pie angle, supposedly, is entirely reliant on that graham cracker wafer. While this sounds lazy and I wasn’t expecting much, the blueberry creme is fabulous. It takes a second or two for the flavor to build, but the payoff is huge.
The creme has everything a ripe blueberry should: a crisp, tart bite and a semi-sweet, semi-sour finish. Because it’s delivered via creme, the sweetness is turned up an extra notch. But that’s exactly what makes it a good representation of a blueberry pie filling. It’s superb.
While the graham wafer isn’t a perfect graham cracker substitute, it is the perfect choice for Blueberry Pie Oreos. Trust in me – the blueberry creme is even more fabulous when you eat it all together. The tart bite amplifies, the sweetness is showcased even harder and everything improves. The same thing happened with the Key Lime Pie Oreos, but the blueberry creme is so much more balanced than the incredibly sour lime. The floury, buttery, graham-ish wafer works wonderfully as a pie crust. Not exactly ag graham one, but a regular pie crust or at least the components of blueberry cobbler. Call it whatever you want; I call it phenomenal.
Bold Statement of the Day: I like Blueberry Pie Oreos more than Cinnamon Bun Oreos. The former tastes more like pie than the latter tastes like the bun.
So now we know how Blueberry Pie Oreos stack up against blueberry pie. But how did they stack up inside a blueberry pie?
In summary, I’m a lot fatter than I was 10 minutes ago.

Our friends at Snack Cellar reviewed Blueberry Pie Oreos too! Did they love ’em as much as we did? Does anyone care what me or Snack Cellar has to say? Check out their review here:

Next time you review a pie-flavored Oreo, instead of stuffing a slice of pie with the Oreos, you might consider twisting open one of the Oreos and sandwiching/stacking an entire slice of pie between the wafers; that would be a majestic feat of strength.
Brilliant. Consider it done!!
Righteous! I shall look forward to it… I’m shivering with anticipation.
