Forgive me for making assumptions based on appearances, but I think we can all agree that Santa’s fat ass loves cookies. After all, a popular tradition is to leave Oreos and milk out for Santa.
But are we doing enough for the plump bastard? The guy’s out there for hours on end in frightful weather, and I’m sure he would appreciate some hot chocolate to warm up.
Even fat guys get cold, ya know…
Okay, let’s be real. Nobody wants to set an alarm for 2:00 A.M. to make hot cocoa for someone else, but we could at least leave him these Hot Cocoa Oreos as a sign that we thought about it.
And maybe a note in case he wants to do it himself.
Dear Santa, there’s cocoa mix in the pantry. Stay out of my Doritos.
Nabisco Hot Cocoa Oreos feature the chocolate wafers and a hot cocoa flavored creme, which is actually two unspecified cremes layered together.
By design, Hot Cocoa Oreos look exactly like the Mississippi Mud Pie Oreos, which tasted like Oreos. However, the two cremes are virtually inseparable the way they’re combined.
I assumed the chocolate creme would be the same as the normal Chocolate Oreos, but I’m not so sure. This chocolate has an extra sweetness that feels different. It could just be due to its proximity to the white creme, which definitely tastes different than the standard white. It does taste more like marshmallows!
Eating the whole cookie is when I noticed the extra marshmallowyness. The extra vanilla-marshmallow flavor pops a bit more against the cocoa wafer. It’s sweeter and more candy-like – successfully subtle. It also feels familiar because if I’m making hot cocoa, I’m probably going to dunk Oreos in them if we’re being honest.
While Hot Cocoa Oreos were never destined to be much different than regular Oreos, Nabisco did a decent job with nuance. They don’t blow me away that I need to hoard them, but they’re really solid cookies that I’m happy to share with Santa.
Actually, you know what? I asked for an NES Classic last year but all I got was some socks and an Applebees gift card.
NES Classic Rating: 10 out of 10
Socks Rating: 2 out of 10
Overall Rating: 8 out of 10

Didn’t care for these. Just had an odd taste that I can’t place. But it may be that I just don’t like marshmallow. Oh, well.
Such a different perspective than most, the odd taste. Most people are complaining they taste too much like regular Oreos. At least you agree with me they taste different. I love them.
