Quick Bites are rapid-fire reviews without the lame story – just the important points.
Moving past his colossal F*ck Up, aka WHOOPSY! Fudge Stripes, Ernie has gotten his shit together and released a new flavor of non-Whoopsy Fudge Stripes.
Keebler Chocolate Caramel Fudge Stripes
This is the Ernie I know and love; new flavors of Fudge Stripes that aren’t #FullyFudged is where the Elves have made a claim to fame here on Junk Banter. Birthday Cake Fudge Stripes, Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes, Cinnamon Roll Fudge Stripes, Strawberry Cheesecake Fudge Stripes, Dark Chocolate Mint Fudge Stripes, but to name a few. All have received favorable reviews on this very site.
Their bread and butter, now with caramel… and not by accident.
Listen to Ernie glow about the Elves’ newest creation:
You had us at caramel. We elves love to make things extra special! Using our ingenuity and Elfin Magic®, we created these scrumptious, fudge shortbread cookies that are coated in rich, buttery caramel! We’re sure they’ll melt your heart. Enjoy these yummy, special cookies before they disappear. ~ Ernie™
That’s talking a big game from someone who couldn’t properly stripe his cookies a week ago…
In any event, the caramel scent is MASSIVE off Keebler Chocolate Caramel Fudge Stripes. A very promising start.
Each cookie has thick stripes of caramel plastered on it – plus the entire bottom has a solid caramel coating. Ernie opted for the chocolate version of his shortbread cookies as the base – the second time he’s done so, and the first since last summer’s Dark Chocolate Mint Fudge Stripes.
This proves to be a shrewd choice.
Maybe it’s just the pairings but I’m beginning to think I like the chocolate cookie better than the original shortbread for Fudge Stripes. Its flavor stands out on its own while also serving as a great foundation for the much sweeter, buttery flavor of the caramel.
The caramel’s flavor also feels like a step up in quality over their chocolate fudge. At times I’m reminded of Werther’s caramels, though the chocolate cookie mellows its potency. The two work in tandem to produce a very solid cookie.
Pick these up before Ernie f*cks up again and makes Oops! No Fudge Stripes.
Burning Questions:
- What’s your favorite Fudge Stripe ever? Cinnamon Roll.
- You really have a problem with something being #FullyFudged? Several…
- Pick one. It sounds like you’re backed up with poop.
