When you can’t decide between wanting to bake tried and true chocolate chip cookies or some warm, fudgy brownies, the solution is obvious…
Buy Oreos!
Nabisco Brookie-O Oreos
ALL of the flavors, NONE of the work, PLUS Oreos! That’s what Nabisco is gunning for with their new Nabisco Brookie-O Oreos. The cookies features a trio of layered cremes – one part brownie, one part chocolate chip cookie dough, and one part classic Oreo creme.
It’s been a minute since Oreo has blessed us with three different cremes in one cookie, as they’ve retired all of their Triple Double Oreos. (See: I Reviewed Over 100 Different Oreos Because I’m Fat And That’s How Many I Ate) But we celebrate a big victory with Brookie-O Oreos because none of them have sounded as good as these. They combine elements of the dearly-departed, fan-favorite Cookie Dough Oreos and Brownie Batter Oreos, which haven’t been seen since 2014 and 2015, respectively. It’s truly amazing what you can put together with a bunch of dead Oreos.
The new limited edition flavors arrives just in time to ring in 2021… New year, same fatass me!
You can kind of tell exactly what you’re getting yourself into as soon as you open the package and get a whiff. The Brookie-O Oreos smell like a more chocolatey Oreo than an original Oreo, but with a little more nuance than the Chocolate Oreos. It’s kind of hard to explain in writing, but the prevailing thought isn’t…
“I’m gonna eat the f*ck outta these.”
I tried each of the cremes separately as best as I could. Now, keep in mind that the Cookie Dough Oreos were released all the way back in 2014 and Brownie Batter Oreos in 2015, so we’re digging deeper into the memory bank (I’ve eaten A LOT of Oreo since then). BUT, these two cremes taste exactly as how I remember them the first time around. And that’s a pretty good thing, my friends…
A fun little thing is that the cookie dough creme has little chocolatey chips in them (the original Cookie Dough Oreos did too, but it’s still fun today even though they do absolutely nothing). This creme adds a little bit of a saltier, sort-of brown sugar flavor to the overall package.
The brownie creme is a fudgier, deeper chocolate than in the plain Chocolate Oreos but a more sweet one than in the Dark Chocolate Oreos. Even though they just call it “brownie” this time around, I’m pretty sure it’s the same one that was in the Brownie Batter Oreos.
The plain Oreo creme tastes like plain Oreo creme.
So how good is the final package? I’ll say QUITE GOOD, but not in the top tier of Oreos I’ve ever eaten. One thing holding them back for me is that the triple layers of creme, while a super duper fun concept, creates a much heftier Oreo. Personally I think it’s more creme than I prefer in my Oreos, throwing off what I consider the optimal creme-to-cookie ratio as seen in Double Stuf.
But if you’re looking to eat three desserts at once with the effort it takes to make zero, there really aren’t many better options than the Brookie-O Oreo.
Burning Questions:
- What if you want to eat four desserts at once? Dip it in cheesecake filling.
- But I don’t want to make anything. You have some in your fridge.
- …How did you know? Because you read this blog.
